New for Industry Partners: RET Alternate Alternate Entry Packet

Applications will be accepted for industry partner employees who would like to take an approved course within the RET program in order to increase knowledge on a specific skillset or to fulfill a credential in renewable energy and related fields. To learn more, download the application packet.

Renewable Energy Technology students gain an opportunity to practice wind tower climbing, work in a confined space and rescue techniques. The new climbing tower on the TD campus will be an essential part of the first-year RET curriculum.

Demands and Expectations of Working as a Technician in the Wind Industry

Disclaimer: This list is not inclusive of all expectations from all industries, and students are responsible for checking the necessary qualifications listed for each employer.

Technicians for the Wind Energy Industry should:

Be able to work in and promote a safe environment
Have the ability to lift 50 lbs
Be able to climb 260 foot ladders and work at this elevation
Be able to work in adverse weather conditions
Be able to work in confined spaces
Have no criminal history
Be able to pass a drug test
Have a valid driver’s license – travel will be involved
Have a clean driving record
Be able to follow exact instructions
Be able to work under minimal supervision
Be able to work with people in a team-oriented environment
Be prepared to work with electrical hazards
Have an aptitude for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
Be prepared for possible relocation
Be willing to work overtime and weekends and be on call 24/7 per Wind Industry expectations
