Demands and Expectations of Working as a Technician in the Wind Industry

Technicians for the Wind Energy Industry should:

  1. Be able to work in and promote a safe environment
  2. Have the ability to lift 50 lbs
  3. Be able to climb 260 foot ladders and work at this elevation
  4. Be able to work in adverse weather conditions
  5. Be able to work in confined spaces
  6. Have no criminal history
  7. Be able to pass a drug test
  8. Have a valid driver’s license – travel will be involved
  9. Have a clean driving record
  10. Be able to follow exact instructions
  11. Be able to work under minimal supervision
  12. Be able to work with people in a team-oriented environment
  13. Be prepared to work with electrical hazards
  14. Have an aptitude for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  15. Be prepared for possible relocation
  16. Be willing to work overtime and weekends and be on call 24/7 per Wind Industry expectations
